Uh Rock

March 23, 2006

Look, it’s bad enough that we’re in this war and it appears to be going badly. Little progress is being made, billions are being spent and our soldiers are dying left and right. It’s bad enough that people in the White House had plans to invade Iraq for years and merely seized upon post-9/11 fear to rush into it. It’s bad enough that they deceived and continue to deceive people into believing that the government of Iraq had something to do with the terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001. It’s bad enough that the imaginary weapons they used to frighten us into backing this ill-concieved invasion never materialized. And it’s bad enough to see the rightie wingnuttery continue to float tales of weapons being sneaked out of the country – theories that would make Oliver Stone blush.

Yes, all of that is bad enough. But the cherry on top of this whole thing, the part that I cannot take anymore, is the fact that nobody in this great land of ours seems to know how to say the name of the country that we have been occupying for the past three fucking years.

Eye-rack? Ear-ack? Eye-rock? Ear-ock? Uh-rack? Uh-rock? Sometimes one can even hear professional media people having it several different ways in the same sentence. And I just can’t take it anymore.

And let’s not even get into Iran. (I mean, really – let’s not!)

  1. LMAO… 😀

  2. Haha — too true.

  3. Heh.

Being from the South, of course, my preference is Eye-rack, said just as redneck as you can get.

But what is the correct one? Inquiring minds demand an answer. On to Wikipedia!
