J. K. Lee Picnic

July 23, 2006

Yesterday was the annual J. K. Lee picnic. Several hundred martial artists and their families converged upon Wirth park in Brookfield to eat Korean barbecued beef and literally dozens of other dishes. There was football. There was soccer. There was swimming. There was an amazing sense of camaraderie and family.

This was my first year attending and it was a special one: this year marks the 30th anniversary of J. K. Lee Black Belt Academy. I meant to ask grandmaster Lee what he thought of the occasion, but I didn’t get a chance.

In addition to having a fantastic time, I also took a lot of pictures. A few of the good ones are up in my flickr stream in their own album so go check them out!
