Forms grand champion

I didn’t get to take a lot of fantastic photos as I was busy doing my demonstration and also competing. Alas, I didn’t win anything. I didn’t even place. But I did have a great time! One of the best moments was when Mr. Chan Lee gathered the black belt students together and advised us:

In 20 minutes there’s going to be a thousand people in here. You know what they’re going to remember? They’re not going to remember how high you kicked or how many boards you broke. They’re going to remember this: “YES SIR! PIL SUNG SIR!” Do you understand?

We did. What matters above all in competition is that you embody the highest levels of respect, discipline, enthusiasm and good sportsmanship. Under no circumstances are you to complain about the judges, say that you were “robbed” or sulk about the outcome of a match. You applaud the winners and losers alike, you bow and you shake hands with your competitors…and then you go back to your dojang and you start training for next time.

Anyway, I did take a few photos and they’re up in my flickr stream if you’re curious. I will also be putting them up at the J. K. Lee site as well.
